Prayer flags are hung in mountain passes and highest points on mountains so that the blessings written on them are carried by the strongest winds possible, as far as possible, spreading far and wide. Same with monni stones. The Chinese govt regularly destroys these, and most all monni stones left over the centuries by passing pilgrims.
