This one of late Mrs Indira Gandhi, one of the most well known women of India and perhaps the world was the last hand embroidery work by my late mother. This was done in the late 1960's when I was still at school. Looking at this picture and comparing with her earlier works, one could see that she was finding it difficult to maintain the high standards she set herself right at the begining. The main reason for this perhaps could be her fading eye sight coupled with the need for intense use of threds while filling the vast areas inside the boundaries of the individual pictures.
