I made this peace sign out of one of those shiny plastic foam type political lawn signs with the honeycomb layer between the surfaces. Cut it in half and put the two parts end to end and taped them together on the back. Outlined the word PEACE on the blank white back in block letters and magic-markered the background in dark green (black marker and then green over it.) Then I took a string of Christmas tree lights, counted the bulbs, and figured out how many bulbs I could get in each letter and marked dots for where to put them. It came out to about six bulbs per letter. I got a drill bit that was slightly smaller than the bulbs, drilled the holes, and then stuck the bulbs in from the back snugly. Then I taped a dowel to the back very securely and added two hooks I made from a coat hanger and hung it from the front edge of porch. The reddish light behind it hanging from the middle of the porch is big multi-ogonal star my wife found at a place like Pier One. This is the only decoration we put up outside this year. I'd really like to mass-produce these. Anyone have the know-how to do that? It took a couple of hours to do it by hand but I bet you could get the cost down.
