Crossing Borders presentation
Crossing Borders (CB) is a non profit, nongovernmental organisation (NGO) whose mission is to provide impartial dialogue space and enabling skills training for youth, media people and educators to participate actively in the development processes of their societies. The overall goal of Crossing Borders is to increase the possibilities for world peace and international understanding through learning to live together on equal terms.
The visible face of Crossing Borders is the youth magazine written for and by Euromed youth. Crossing Borders started as a project in 1999 in Elsinore, Denmark in support of a aningful dialogue between the conflict parties in the Middle East. In response to increased activities and demands for the CB concept and educational activities, it was decided to transform Crossing Borders from a project into an international non governmental organisation (NGO) with a base in Elsinore, Denmark and activities both within Denmark and abroad. Thus, Crossing Borders was inaugurated at a general assembly meeting on 27 August 2004 of the Danish and Middle East partners.
Crossing Borders’ activities consist mainly of
• The publication and distribution of the bi-monthly magazine, “Crossing Borders” for distribution in high schools, youth clubs, community centres and organisations in the Middle East and abroad.
• Training courses, seminars and workshops in conflict management, journalism/media and intercultural communication skills for EuroMed youth, young journalists and educators
• Development and publication of educational materials for dialogue in schools
• Advocacy and networking with civil society and public institutions
