When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I am a pacifist
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
War, Poverty, Violence
So what is it?
war
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
Fear
More
Fear prevents people from seeing or working toward collaborative solutions to all the other problems. It takes their eyes off the needs of others and has them focusing only on their own needs. There will not be peace if people are only looking out for themselves - even if their looking out for others merely comes out of a strategic understanding that a lasting solution needs to be good for the other as well.
Can we change the world?
Definitely
More about me
I've been in over 40 countries, some for just a few days, but longer in others - 3 years in Zambia, 6 months in Iraq, and about two months total in Israel over five trips.
My ethno-religious tradition is one of active pacifism - a belief that we can/must engage with the world in non-violent ways, even perhaps non-coercive ways - and that at least some people acting in this way is a necessary pre-condition for peace.
