All over our planet, billions of sentinent beings are imprisoned, enslaved, exploited, tortured and slaughtered. Then they are eaten. Who are they? They are the ones with no audible voice. They are the ones who we sometimes call ‘best friend’, sometimes beast of burden. ‘They’, are animals. Why does society call them animals, when they too are fellow earthlings? Because religion says they have no soul and it is convenient for us to do so. These people (animals) come in many colours, shapes and sizes, but the one thing they have in common is that they serve the earth and more often than not, they aid us. Isn’t it about time we really looked to see who they are? Isn’t it time we looked after them, stopped feeding off their corpses, and stopped slaughtering their children? If humanity ever wants peace – then we will have to realise that the way we treat our fellow earthlings is connected to our daily lives. For us to know peace, we must give it and allow our ‘animal’ friends to live with it also. There can never be peace on earth until we stop the butchery.
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”. Gandhi.
Can we change the world?
Definitely
More about me
I am an artist living in Turkey. I am non-political, non-medical and have no religion. If I had to be labelled, I would say I am a humanist. I do not eat animals or animal products - that is the foundation of my lifestyle: that I will not participate in the enslavement of my fellow beings. Compassion, empathy - they are the corner stones of how I attempt to live my life.
