When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I feel the pain in the world
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
War, Hunger, Poverty, Our Planet, Violence, Human Rights
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
Greed
More
I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness for the poor and homeless. In the 21st Century, we should be ashamed to admit there are homeless people in our midst. We are all created equal, yet we judge others by colour, creed, sex, etc. I believe the key to peace is the elimination of both poverty and prejudice.
Can we change the world?
Definitely
More about me
I am an author, a member of Kiwanis, and ambassador for New Brunswick with the Kiwanis/Unicef AIDS Project in the Caribbean - where there is now an AIDS Pandemic. Children are being born with this horrible disease and dying before the age of two years. Kiwanis/Unicef Project will both educate and provide antiretroviral drugs in an effort to save the children. I have written and illustrated a children's book "Tell Me A Story" available through www.monctonkiwanis.com or www.annabelsheila.com as a fundraiser for Kiwanis. Five dollars from every book goes to the Kiwanis/Unicef AIDS Project. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and have a passion for writing both poetry and fiction for children and grown-ups. I am a member of the Canadian Poetry Assoc. and a member of the Board Of Editors for Bread n' Molasses Magazine from the Miramichi, New Brunswick. I am a peaceful person with a great love and respect for Mother Earth.

A Sonnet For The Homeless

Where do they go in the daytime?
Seems I never see them around.
Maybe they’re not that obvious,
Or they don’t want to be found.

If they were standing right next to me,
Wouldn’t I know somehow?
Don’t they look different from you and me?
I was sure they did, until now.

They are the poor and homeless,
With no place to call their own,
I’ve seen them sleeping in the streets,
A cardboard box their home.

Some of them have jobs you know,
And they work hard all day long.
But they must choose between food and a home,
And that is morally wrong.

There’s a serious lack of humanity,
In the world as we know it today.
So if a poor soul reaches out to me,
I will never turn them away.
