Any ideology that attempts to control the minds and actions of others to further its own interests must do so through violence of some kind. Whether that violence be terrorism of simply the consequences of unacceptable behavior, the ultimate goal is the same: control.

Hello Prospectoe,
I liked the idea of the few carrying the many, it bodes well for all of us. As to religions, although you are right about the aim, we should not forget that the followers agree and accept to relinquish their personal responsibility for their own life. It is easier perhaps than trying to find your truth all by yourself. So the impediment to peace lies perhaps more in the moral laziness of people than in the institutions turning that lack of courage to their advantage.
