WASHINGTON (AP) — The number of out-of-work Americans continuing to draw unemployment benefits has surged to a 25-year high, while shoppers turned extra frugal, further proof of the damage from sinking economy, credit problems and financial stresses.
The Labor Department reported Thursday that the number of people continuing to draw unemployment benefits jumped by 122,000 to 3.84 million in late October. It was the highest… Continue
Here is my favorite site when it comes to a message of peace. The main speaker has been given the title Ambassador of Peace in several countries, yet he remains unknown to many, mainly because he has no books, does not go on TV, doesn't charge for what he offers. Kind of an "oddball" in some ways, I suppose, but I've enjoyed his message for most of my adult life, and continue to be amazed by how he works to help people understand and discover personal peace.
As I sit here on my birthday and reflect upon the past year and the upcoming year, what is really clear for me is how much friendship has kept me going through the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful times. This last year has been one of growth, transformation and faith. As I stepped away from a world and life that I knew and was comfortable withm, and I fully stepped out with courage and faith to follow my heart and dreams, I realize that what has gotten me through have been my… Continue

Did I get your attention? You might be sitting there thinking, " you are really pushing it! You are just plain crazy with your positivity by calling rejection a gift. Rejection hurts too much to be good for me in any way." I can relate to your viewpoint because I used to feel that way too. All I ask of you this week is that you contemplate the ideas I share. You just never know how your perspective might expand if you… Continue

SICU is like a living organism. In the end of every nerve fiber, there are individuals, who are connected with the nerve center, the processor.
Both individuals and organizations have inspiration, ideas, knowledge, experiences, resources and passion. Thousands of people who are independent, but interconnect, can collaborate as a “living organism”, and with short bursts of energy produce potentially higher outputs of value as they… Continue

This week, I completed an anti-war educational video intended for use in colleges and high school classrooms.
My 20-minute video HOW TO JUMP START YOUR WAR is a satirical look at the four similar deceptive protocols used to start each of the last four big international wars: World War Two, Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq. Most people of all political stripes do not like being swindled, and this animated and historical video is about giving college and high school classroom exposure to what might… Continue

Renee (whose username I do not know, and thus cannot DM- let me know if you know how to DM Renee!) sent out a notice about how she cannot set up a fund here for Haiti.
Thing is, that some of the larger organizations have widgets that sites like ours can use to promote the cause without having to reinvent one here.
It is amazing to look into the eyes of a child, to look at the beauty and innocence, to feel embraced by unconditional love and acceptance, to feel embraced by happiness and wisdom at the same time
Look into the eyes of a newborn baby, you feel the wisdom as rays of love toward your soul.
When babies are first born, they can look so very old, it is because of the soul shining through, as many of our children are old souls visiting Earth to give us… Continue

Dawn is coming
Sublimation
Bullets
Say
Splatters in the wind
Spreads its wings
On
Starry nights
When
Solitude descends
Leaving untouched
Wounds buried in my heart
Ocean songs
Echo
Ripple
Across anemone floors
Glisten
Like yesterday’s pictures
As we move
In worlds unformed
Cry for release
Die to be born
Again and again
They call me
What nine months does for the Embryo
Forty early mornings
Will do for your growing Awareness."

Going through the text lines of the famous speech "I have a dream" i have noted the following...
"...I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
......
And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every… Continue
In the movie, Avatar, released in 2009, the Navi greet each other with the words, "I see you" expressed in their native tongue. This simple phrase translates into a more profound message of mutual respect and regard for one another as if you are saying "I recognize the value in you."
This same timeless message has been shared many times throughout history with the promise of great power for any who might embrace it, and for good… Continue
