When you were a kid, did you ever try to get away with doing something by saying, "But soand-so did it first"?
Did it EVER work?
It never did for me, I can tell you. In fact saying something like that usually got me harsher punishement for being "stupid". There was no excuse for doing something that I knew, or even suapected was wrong.
I bring his up, because on My MySpace Blog I 've gotten a "message" or two from people claiming that i am being unfair to conservatives by "calling out" them on theirr lies, distortions", and flip flops.
A few people were highly upset because I stated that it seems to me that conservatives act as if they think "dishonesty" is a moral value.
"What about Obama1", the cry. (Well at least that's a slight improvement over, What anbout Clinton") "What about the Dems/Liberals??!!??"
What about about about them?
Maybe if my side was running around claiming that the people who voted for us were "value voters", "you" might have a point.
But you and your talking heads are the ones who claim thay YOu and you alone are the true Christians. You're the ones who claim that the GOP is the party of "family values".
You're the ones who demand that the 10 Commandments (one of which FORBIDS lying BTW) and "religious" symbols be placed on public prroperty , and that there be prayer in schools.
So if you tell me you're the true Christians, and the defenders of all that is right and decent, shouldn't I be able to expect you to act "right and decent"?.,
Help me, O Lord my God!
Save me according to your steadfast love.
Let them know that this is your hand;
you, O Lord, have done it.
Let them curse, but you will bless.
Let my assailants be put to shame; may your servant be glad.
- Psalm 109:26-28
We are going to render an account to God, not only for our idle words, but also for our ill-considered silence.
- John Trithemius
