An overview of the brewing world in Adelaide and Australia

An overview of the brewing world http://www.official49ersnflproshop.com/Nike-Jimmie-Ward-Jersey.html in Adelaide and Australia

Yo Ho brewing company started making beer in 1996 after the law in Japan changed to allow for craft beer to be brewed and distributed. This solves the coincidence of Yo Ho and Kiuchi from the previous post both starting in 1996.

Interesting all their beers come in cans for environmental reasons and easy of transportation in terms of weight. With craft beer going back to cans in the United States it proves that in this one instance Japanese craft beer was ahead of the curve.

So enough about trendy sumos and environmentally friendly cans, the main question is the beer any good. The beer pours as close as to black as I have ever seen, at least in recent memory. There is a burst of caramelized sort of burnt but appetizing sort of smell. When I poured this into the glass it looked thick and tar like, it was pretty exciting.

When I tasted it I was thinking that I was going to get more of a full on taste like a big imperial stout but this was before I looked at how strong the beer was on the internet. At 5 % and without an overpowering taste this beer doesn badge itself as a porter in order to separate itself stouts. This is a more moderate and traditional English style porter which has the dark ale sort of flavour without the heavy aftertaste or the warming extra alcohol you get with a stout.

I really enjoyed the novelty of the beer and I enjoyed the beer as a porter but I think I was just looking for something a little bit more from the beer. It is certainly not a beer which will keep you warm as winter is coming.

All up I give this two Ned Starks out of five as a winter warmerThis is one of the 1,001 beers to try before you die and it is an exciting offering from Japan. I mean how can you not get excited about a beer that chooses an adorable owl as their logo and actively badges themselves as a nest beer.

The Kiuchi brewery started life as a sake distillery a 180 years ago. The craft beer movement took hold in 1996 and all beers out of the distillery/ brewery were rolled out under the Hitachino Nest brand.

Today offering is the Extra High 8%which is a strong Belgian ale which pours out a redish orange. The beer is matured in sake barrels for three months before bottling. The beer has four different malts and two types of hops.

On smelling the beers I got a very yeasty malty smell which assaulted the olfactory receptors. This was a sign of things to come.

This reddish coloured ale is very strong and it dominates any other taste in your mouth. Not only does it smash other tastes out of your mouth but it just refuses to move out. There are some hints of citrus but this is quickly swamped by the malt flavour. This is an excellent beer but doesn have the same type of banana esters you get from typical Belgium yeast.

If you have the opportunity, definitely picks this beer up.

I sorry that the blog hasn had a new post for ages and there really has been no excuse for it but it time to get back on track. Today offering comes from Australian brewery 3 Raven seeds of the brewery came out of a beer brewed for a wedding and it has since taken off and a couple of guys took their home brewing to a new level.

Today beer is the 3 Ravens White witbier. It pours out incrediably pale and only just fits into the definition of yellow. This is a wheat beer and it falls into that category really well, it very light tasting and certainly not what you would Carlos Hyde Jersey expect if you are in for a run of the mill lager. I didn find it to be one of the most flavorsome or complex wheat beers I Eric Reid Youth Jersey have ever had. It was very refreshing though and I really enjoyed a big drop of peppery sort of taste in the beer which I don usually get from other wheat beers where the characteristics of coriander, orange peel or wheat spiciness are often more prominent. That what really set this beer apart for me. I really enjoyed this beer for it interesting point of difference and I would not hesitate to bring this one out for a BBQ and to share with friends especially if grilled chicken was available. Try this out if you can find it, it difficult to find in Adelaide but if you get across to Melbourne track it down.

I don think that anyone denies that drinking too beer is damaging to the health of drinker. News and current affair shows are constantly telling the public that alcohol is destroying relationships and costing everyone millions of dollars. When you put it like that why is anyone allowed to drink? I mean beer tastes good but I imagine there are a variety of things which might make me feel good which are illegal. So if that is true, and I understand there are more arguments that can be made about it, can breweries and especially craft breweries benefit society?

As previously written about on this blog, North Coast Brewing makes a beer called Brother Thelonious which helps support the Thelonious Monk Jazz Institute which trains jazz musicians. The question is does this sort of donation make a positive difference? Does it make a difference to a drinker? And does what are the best conscious beers?

Brooklyn Brewery Company is a company (just one among many) who is using more and more renewable energy, in fact 100% of the energy needed to produce Brooklyn Brewery is produced using wind energy. I loved it, plus it was organic.

You know who else does great things in the community? New Orleans based brewery Abita. which stands for Save Our Shores. 75 cents out of every bottle goes to supporting coastal rehabilitation. fund which has been especially important since Eric Reid Kids Jersey the massive oil spill.

There are numerous stories of beer doing cool, good and interesting things in the community and I just wanted to write about something a little different then just a beer review. If you do think of anything or remember anything interesting that a brewery has done, feel free to share it.

Brother Thelonious badges itself as a Belgium style abbey ale made by the North Coast Brewing Co. in the United States. This beer was made to support jazz education as every bottle sold gets a donation from North Coast the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz. As big jazz enthusiasts know the name of Thelonious Monk because he is the second most recorded jazz musician in history behind Duke Ellington, note that 70 tracks is a lot for official49ersnflproshop.com/Nike-Joe-Staley-Jersey.html the Thelonious to record but the Duke recorded a 1,000 so I would say the difference is probably roughly between me and Usain Bolt over a 100 metres.

This dark abbey style weighs in at 9.4% which corresponds to 2.6 standard drinks in the 355 ml bottle. The beer pours out a darkmahoganycolour and has lots of tiny bubbles running up it with a fizzy head.

The beer smells dark, boozy with preserved stone fruits. Taste wise this is pretty boozy but it is covered with some pretty sweet malt, don go looking for anything hoppy or floral about this. It is a welcoming beer that makes you glad to know that you are living in a world where beer can be tasty, respect tradition and do some good for the community. Sixtus but in 1992 the monks went in house with their brewing to produce some of the rarest beers in the world and Brouwerij St Bernadus had to stand on it own two feet and one of the things they did was produce today Belgium offering, St Bernardus Tripel.

The tripel is 8% which comes out as 2.1 standard drinks from the 330mlglass bottle. It has a thick andpersistent white foam that doesn appear to be going anywhere with a sparkling dense yellow colour and some (I hope) yeast floaties.

Malty sweet and some light fruity smell make this a beer which is prettyappealing, I am still trying to put those ominous dark floaties at the bottle of the glass out of my mind.

The beer is sharp and the alcohol taste cuts through, you would never mistake this for a non alcoholic or even a light beer. This beer is not the bestBelgiumtripel but don overlook it if you are looking for something with a bit more of a hit. It could use just a little bit more flavour which to temper the alcoholic nature of the beer. It is still enjoyable but St Bernardus Tripel is up against such tough competition and it just doesn quite match up. To use a sports metaphor because where better to use a sports metaphor then on a beer blog, St. Bernardus Tripel is a good Carlos Hyde Kids Jersey 6th man in basketball, respectable and can get a job down off the bench but don expect it ever to make the hall of fame.
