Today I read that NASA is planning to bomb the moon on October 2009 to apparently look for water and the potential to colonise there. At first glance this looked a little strange but they painted a good picture of doing it for the greater good of space exploration. Link to the article: http://articles.latimes.com/2009/jun/19/science/sci-moon-launch19?pg=1.
Now I imagine this endeavour would cost billions of taxpayer dollars. Did majority of these taxpayers get a say or even know what they are funding at the expense of their own financial security back on planet earth? No they didn’t. I’m sorry NASA but you are taking food from families mouths to bomb the moon, what’s wrong with this picture?? Will they say its for the evolution of space exploration and possible colonisation? Probably.
Maybe they are planning on the possibility of migrating to the moon if we fail to clean up our current home, earth. Then they can say “oh lets move onto the next planet”... to suffocate, well I’m sorry but that’s devolution to me, not evolution. I feel even though our moon is a moon, I believe it should still have rights and some kind of protection along with the possible life it houses. And why should only a minority of humans get to decide such a large scale act on another planet? And to use money from unsuspecting hard working humans that have no idea what they are paying for while they can barely feed their families? C'mon.
Seriously, why cant we put our space exploration on hold until the mess back home is cleaned up and be prospering in our own back yard first? Starvation, death, disease, lack of quality food, and idolisation of material objects is the result of these endeavours, and it kinda leaves you thinking..is it worth it??
Of course not, that would be ludicrous.
Blessings & Love, Carly.
