Choosing a DSLR Camera and Making the Most of it With Photography Courses Sydney

Choosing a DSLR camera is no small task. With many different options available you may find yourself overwhelmed, and when you factor in the financial outlay you should take great care to ensure you choose a camera that is right for you.

When you are ready to graduate from a point and shoot camera there are a few things you should consider when making your choice;

What will you use it for? Before purchasing you must assess what you will be using the camera for. Will it be for capturing high quality shots of your family, will you be travelling with it, or will you use it for sports shots or macro shots? Think carefully about this as it will likely dictate which piece of equipment you purchase.

Price- Most likely this will be your main consideration when choosing a DSLR camera. Think carefully about how much you want to spend as this will affect your image quality, whilst you can pick up a DSLR relatively cheaply you will also need to purchase lenses, and with different lenses required for landscapes, portraits and close-ups this could soon end up costing more than the camera itself. You’ll also need a decent bag to keep your camera safe, spare batteries and a memory card to store your pictures on.

Size Matters- If you are going to be travelling with your camera you will need to consider the size of it. DSLR cameras are much larger than compact cameras and this will take some getting used to. Professional photographers don’t mind carrying around large pieces of kit, but if you are just getting started you may wish to consider a lighter weight model.

Picture Quality- Two things to consider for image quality are megapixels and sensor size. The bigger the sensor size, the better the image quality. This is not necessarily true with resolution (megapixels) however. If you are just going to be emailing pictures to friends and family you will not need the highest resolution, this is only important if you intend to print off and enlarge your images.

Future Use- Whilst starting out with a more basic model may be more cost effective now, when you come to upgrading you may not be able to use your lenses with a more advanced model. You may wish to choose a model that has a few more advanced features and grow into it over time.

Proficiency- Are you the kind of person who learns new things easily? Are you particularly tech savvy? If you feel overwhelmed by the different functions of a DSLR camera photography courses Sydney may be something to consider. You will also have to factor this into your budget if you intend to take photography courses.
