City offers Bayonne residents eco-friendly leaf bags for autumn leaves

Bayonne residents contemplating how they will get rid of their autumn leaves can now pick up free eco-friendly leaf bags and look Coach Outlet forward to curbside pickups starting in mid-October, city officials announced.

The pick-ups will take place citywide at 6 a.m. on Mondays beginning on Oct. 13 and ending on Dec. 8, a press release from the city stated. Residents should put their leaves out on Sunday evenings to ensure pick-up.

Residents may Coach Factory Online place leaves in special eco-friendly leaf bags, in barrels or in paper bags, but plastic bags are unacceptable and will be rejected for pick-up, according to city spokesman Joe Ryan.

Ryan said that eco-friendly leaf bags can be picked up at the Fourth Street Senior Community Center (Fourth Street and Story Court), Coach Outlet Stores the 27th Street Senior Community Center (27th Street and Broadway) and the 56th Street Senior Community Center (56th Street and Avenue B).

The bags can be picked up at any of the above three locations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on holidays, he said.

The same type of leaf bag can also be picked up from the Public Works Department at City Hall in Room 13, from 9 a.m. to 3p.m., Monday Coach Factory Outlet through Friday, except on holidays, Ryan said. Public Works employees will issue one packet of five bags per household at a time, he added.

As a result of state law, it is now illegal to dispose of leaves with regular garbage, Ryan said. Residents can comply with this law by either backyard composting or by putting their leaves out for collection on the designated Mondays, he said.

"Leaves" means foliage Coach Outlet only, and specifically excluded from this definition are grass clippings, hedge clippings, tree parts, shrubbery and other types of vegetative waste, Ryan said.
