A glance at this week's Colorado prep playoff matchups.

A 5A quarterfinal that's a rematch Cherry Creek beat the Cougars, the 2012 state runnerup, 28 27 on Oct. 4. Desmond Trufant Youth Jersey Cherokee Trail's only other setback was by 23 21 to Chatfield in the season opener, when eight significant Cougars were suspended. The Cougars' defense, led by S Evan White, has permitted 21 points or more just three times. The Bruins, winners of eight straight games, have gelled at both quarterback and on defense. Cameron Brucker has thrown for 16 TDs and only three interceptions, and the defense has allowed more than two scores just twice in two months. Milo Hall leads Cherry Creek with 1,278 yards rushing and 13 TDs, but Nathan Starks, the transfer who sat out the first six games, has eight TDs on 43 carries. Saturday, Legacy Stadium

It's a 5A quarterfinal and fourth time in two years the two have played and ThunderRidge has won the past three. The visiting Grizzlies, 21 3 over two seasons, have had Steve Ray play in only seven games, but he's the team leader in rushing (1,143 yards) and TDs (17). Grandview's three game Centennial League losing streak seems like a long time ago. The Wolves have been crisp in eight postseason quarters. Senior WR Trent Richardson has six receptions (for an average of 15 yards) and two TDs in two playoff games.

(8) Pomona (9 2) at (1) Fairview (10 0)

It's one of three rematches in the 5A quarters Fairview won 33 30 on a field goal on the final play of the game on Oct. 18. Of Pomona's 43 rushing TDs, Chris Marquez has 29 and Lukas Russell 21. The Panthers have scored at least 20 points in every outing but their 19 15 loss to Cherry Creek on Sept. 6. The only undefeated team in 5A, Fairview has been a machine and scored a whopping 467 points. QB Anders Hill has thrown and rushed for 33 TDs. WR Sam Martin is averaging 18.1 yards per catch and tallied 13 TDs.

The first ever meeting between the two, who have combined for nine state titles since 1999. Columbine's rushing attack is well known its fronts will lead two time All Colorado RB Bernard McDondle (1,638 yards, 24 TDs), Jeremy Aparicio (984, 13) and QB Michael Tait. Rebels have won six in a row. The defending champion Eagles have won nine games in a row and 19 postseason outings in succession. Colorado's best player, RB Christian McCaffrey, is at 32 TDs from scrimmage and counting. Cecil has been staggeringly efficient 70.7 percent completions with 28 TDs, five interceptions. Wizards have won nine of 10 games since dropping their opener to Wheat Ridge. Blake Bunday has shaken off a concussion to lead Windsor with 1,222 yards rushing and 13 TDs. Tanner Bohm also has 13 rushing TDs and Will Dressor has 10. The Wizards have compiled four shutouts. Since beginning 1 2 against 5A teams, the Eagles have downed eight consecutive 4A foes. Tommy Lazzaro has thrown for 17 TDs and Scotty Savage Desmond Trufant Kids Jersey is averaging 25.2 yards on Robert Alford Women Jersey 20 receptions.

The Rebels, runnerup a year ago to Monarch, are on a six game roll. . They cruised to 322 offensive yards, including 241 on the ground, last week in eliminating Durango 36 26. Tyson Purifoy passed for two TDs and ran for another. Leading rusher Zach Lindsay added a TD. Montrose has rushed for 3,556 yards and had a season high 68 attempts last week in outlasting visiting Montbello 31 25. In their first year in decades with a new coach, the Indians and Wayne McGinn were shut out by Windsor and lost a game because of the September floods, but otherwise were sparkling and finished in a 3 way tie for the Northern League title. The Indians defense was thorough last week against Broomfield as QB Mike Zweigle ran for two TDs and passed for another. Defending state champion Monarch blasted Vista Ridge a week ago, 62 28, and scored 55 points in the first half. Braden Pape had 162 yards rushing and three TDs.

(5) Pueblo South (10 1) at (4) Dakota Ridge (8 3)

Pueblo South has won nine straight games. QB Nathan Spinuzzi has thrown for 16 TDs and rushed for 10. Garrett Krage leads all Colts rushers with 1,274 yards and 16 TDs. Credit Dakota Ridge for landing the upset of the first round, 42 41 over fourth seeded Falcon. QB Braxton Thais has thrown for 2,434 Robert Alford Red Jersey yards and 24 TDs. RB Aaron Nelson has 1,337 yards rushing and 19 TDs.

Junior tailback Kyle English leads Liberty/Stratton's attack with 1,375 rushing yards and 31 TDs. Senior TB MC Griffin rushed for 912 yards and 18 TDs. Hi Plains' backfield of Alex Nelson and Clay Cordell have combined for 2,579 rushing yards, 391 receiving yards and 53 TDs. These teams are the two most potent offenses in 6 man with Liberty/Stratton averaging 60.8 points and Hi Plains averaging 50. Hi Plains won 42 36 when the teams met in the first round of the playoffs last year.
