He then suffered a torn ACL in 2011 and was buried on the depth chart last season to the point he was a healthy scratch from eight consecutive games.

But he finished strong last season only to suffer another knee injury in the Broncos playoff loss to Baltimore. After another knee procedure in the offseason, Moreno ran third behind Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball through training camp, but became the starter in the Broncos opener against Baltimore.

He been their top rusher ever since. Besides his 1,015 yards and 10 touchdowns on 235 carries this season, Moreno has 55 receptions for another 507 yards and 2 touchdowns.

That 1,522 yards rushing and receiving and 12 Jake Matthews Kids Jersey touchdowns.

Cornerback Champ Bailey 2013 season has been, up to now, something of a nightmare. After injuring his foot in the preseason and working his way back, he aggravated the injury in Indianapolis and really hasn been the same since. Before Sunday, he played in just three games, and after not feeling right in Kansas City nearly a month ago, he and the Broncos admitted that he might have rushed back too soon.

On Sunday, though, Bailey was as cheerful as he been all season. Although he played in a limited role and had just one tackle, the 35 year old seemed optimistic in the locker room after the game.

"I feel good, he said. like the role I was playing. I didn't play every snap, which is probably smart at this point."

With the playoffs just three weeks away, the Broncos need whatever they can get from Bailey.

HOUSTON Broncos linebacker Von Miller will undergo tests Monday to determine the extent of his knee injury.

There is concern the injury is significant, although no determination will be made until after the tests. Miller suffered the injury in the second defensive series of the Broncos game here today against the Houston Texans.

It been a rough season for Miller on a personal level as it started with a six game suspension for violating the league drug policy. Since his return, he had five sacks in nine games entering play here at Reliant Stadium.

In his first two seasons, Miller had 30 sacks in 31 games.

HOUSTON After the Broncos walkthrough Saturday, Broncos coach John Fox and his five captains took a shuttle to the home of George and Barbara Bush.

Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey

HOUSTON A new strategy will be employed with the return of Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey today against the Houston Texans.

If all goes as planned, Bailey will only play in sub packages the nickel and dime. Chris Harris and Dominique Rodgers Cromartie will start as corners in the base defense. It possible Bailey could start, but only if the Broncos open in a sub package.

A 12 time Pro Bowler, Bailey has been hobbled all season with a left foot injury that has caused him to miss 11 of the Broncos first 14 games. He has made two previous returns to the lineup this season, only to fall back to the inactive list.

His first return was game 6 against Jacksonville in which he played 70 of 72 defensive snaps. He then played most of the first half in game 7 at Indianapolis before he aggravated his foot on the Lucas Oil Stadium artificial surface.
