Fashion Heaven: Dress for Success Dublin host inaugural blitz sale
Dress for Success Dublin (DfSD) is the global not-for-profit initiative that helps women prepare to re enter the workforce by suiting and preparing them for prospective interviews.
The Dublin body was founded by Sonya Lennon in May 2010, and has to date helped over 700 women.
The organisation’s work is primarily funded by the donations of individuals and businesses throughout the country.
In its four year history, women have continuously opened their wardrobes and generously gifted unwanted dresses and business attire to the cause, but not all these items have found a home.
Speaking to the Independent.ie, Sonya said,
“The yearly sale is a tradition in all other Dress for Success organisations throughout the world, we have amassed so many items over the last few years and we really don’t have the space for them, so now the public has a chance to bag themselves a fashion bargain at our first ever sale”.
Sonya, co-designer of Lennon Courtney and noted stylist, confirmed there are many reasonably priced gems to be found on the rails:
“We have dresses from Diane Von Furstenberg, John Rocha, Peter O’Brien, Louise Kennedy, and II personally saw a beautiful Yohji Yamamoto piece in there”.
Sonya hopes that the sale will promote awareness of the charity’s work- which has a rolling list of 100 women awaiting their help.
“82 per cent of the money we raise goes directly into client services, and we are always looking for funds so we can keep developing a system for continuous support”.
The inaugural DfSD sale is taking place this Saturday from 10 am - 6 pm at 18 Lower Liffey Street, Dublin.
