When the development of the material-based ego happens at the expense of the development of the soul in our hearts, we face a situation that cannot be sustained for long. When we emphasize the fulfillment of our physical needs in symphony with those of the soul, we create an environment of balance. A self-sustainable attitude causes us to think about not only about the immediate results of our actions for ourselves, but also what those actions represent to all beings that share the same environment. Self-sustainability is one of the keys to harmonious living.
