Today I was sitting here thinking about all the stuff I still want to do with my life. I noticed that little by little they are getting done, just not in the ways I thought they would. I wanted to travel the US and so far I have. There are very few states I have not been to. I wanted a family I know will always be there for me. I have that. I wanted good friends who know what friendship is really about and who won't turn on you for mistakes made. I have that also. I wanted a belief I could be myself in. I have that as well. The rest of the things I want are material and I will get them.
As I am looking out the window watching the birds and other critters outside I am struck by how peaceful an existence they live. Yes nature is a harsh teacher, but the animals know how to live in harmony with her. They don't start war's. They don't kill for the fun of it. They kill to survive. They don't abuse their young and elderly. They take care of each other. Maybe not in ways we can understand, but it shows.
I wonder what type of society we would have today if we lived like the animals do. If we had their oneness with nature. Would it be any better than today's society? Would it be any safer?
Today we have kids taking weapons to schools, we have wars, we have people killing people, and it seems there is no compassion for the elderly or infirm. We have mom's and dad's abusing their young, sometimes ending in the death of the young one. Where does it all end? What happened to feeling safe within one's family? What happened to having faith in one another as well as the deity you choose to worship?
I don't have the answers to any of these questions. Does anyone have the answers? Sadly I don't think anyone does.
So to this end I wish you all a great day.
