Lancashire’s Royal London one-day Cup campaign was dealt a knock-out blow with a 19-run defeat on Duckworth/Lewis against Northamptonshire at Emirates Old Trafford.

Lightning’s already slim chances of reaching the quarter-finals were ended with a fifth Group A defeat in seven matches and a third in three at home as, in pursuit of 201 in 40 overs, they slipped to 25-3 in reply.

Maurice Chambers took all three wickets in a damaging new ball burst before rain, which had already delayed the start by two hours until 4pm, returned with the hosts on 47-3 from 10.1 overs.

Buy Retro Jordans Cheap The pair had underpinned an impressive fightback with the ball after Northants’ overseas opener Richard Levi had helped his side reach 80-0 after 10 overs with a 31-ball half-century.

Buy Retro Jordans Left-armer Parry returned a season’s best 3-23 from eight overs, a positive sign ahead of next week’s T20 Finals Day.

Croft was also impressive for his 1-29 from eight with his ever-improving off-spinners as Northants only scored 120 runs in the last 30 overs.
“We wanted to win this, beat Durham in the Championship and Leicester in this before Finals Day, so we could go into it feeling good,” said Parry.

“It’s important that we now try and win the next two to get some momentum going into that because it’s a great day and it would be lovely to beat Hampshire and see who we get in the final.”

Parry’s performance, after two wickets for the Lions in a one-day match against New Zealand A, was the main positive following a run of only 10 wickets in his previous 15 limited overs outings for Lancashire.

And he has still not given up hope of forcing his way back into England’s limited overs squad for the summer-ending series with India and next year’s World Cup.

“The Lions went well,” he added. “I didn’t play the first two games, but the other two I played in I did myself proud I think. I was pretty happy when I came away.

“I know I’ve not taken as many wickets as I’d like to this season, but I’ve got eight in my last three matches in this competition.
