Memorial Day May 25, '09 11:24 AM
for everyone
Since the power steering is out on my van right now, this is the first year I've been unable to visit my late best friend's grave on Memorial Day. I made this last year. I comforted the woman who had lost her husband in the Iraq War. She gave me permission to use her photographs in the video and we used to talk on the phone from time to time about how she missed her husband and how war had torn up their lives.
I appreciate all of you who have served in the military. I do NOT appreciate the leaders who send men into war unjustly and who don't even give them the honor of decent medical treatment when they return.
Here is the video I made last year:
A Memorial Day tribute for my late best friend and all those who have lost loved ones in or because of war, with deepest respect to those who served. Filmed at the Houston National Cemetery, Memorial Day, 2008
This is the song he asked me to have played at his funeral:

Rest well, Tom. Thank you to all the veterans who have served our country, in spite of leaders who sent you into battle for impure reasons. Have a good Memorial Day.
