More Responses: A 24 Hour Prayer Vigil on Thursday

* The UN is holding a special session on the Palestinian and Israeli conflict on Friday. Let us join in this prayer vigil on Thursday and continue as they meet on Friday.

PRAYER VIGIL FOR GAZA

Valerie writes:

So many memories have been churning through my being of my time spent in Gaza working for the British Council in the years before the first Intifada in 1986.
Working with people who had already suffered so much deprivation but whose spirit was unquenchable.

I was once introduced to the British Ambassador in Beirut as 'Mrs. Macfarlane of Gaza'. How amusing that seemed! But that was then - and now it has become the most significant, meaningful label that I could ever want to be known by.

I was privileged to walk on that fertile land, enjoy its white sandy beaches, and stroll through its citrus groves savouring fruits of unimagined sweetness and strange rough skins, rest in the shade of ancient olive trees watching the agile sheep and goats hopefully grazing the sparse vegetation.

But that was then.
Now is not the time for stamping feet, chanting militant slogans or waving banners.
Now is the time to join together in spirit, to set aside the visceral need to polarize with one side or another - that mistake has been made too often.
There is another way, voiced by many over the ages 'Let there be love'.

Clare adds:

We wondered what could be our best way of helping. It feels possible to invite our MC Sisters to step with us into the Field with a deep focus for personal peace within all hearts and minds and to hold this energy for a 24hour period. Now must be the time to apply all we have ever learned about this collective unified field and to muster and maintain the good energy that can affect change and dispel separations. It will not be words or treaties that affect the change-it will be re-membeing wholeness.
May we join together on Thursday to hold this vigil all the 24 hours long.
