My vision of peace on earth is simply this: diverse people with strong and contrary philosophical opinions resisting the urge to force them on one another.
I do not see all of humanity hugging and singing peace songs together in perfect agreement. It is unrealistic and naive. Nature itself teaches us to accept that life is a perfect blend of joy and pain. There's a sharp ugly thorn on a beautiful fragrant rose. Poison ivy grows next to clover. We learn as we live, what to touch or not touch, eat or not eat.
Our greatest gift is our free will. Unfortunately, there will always be those who exercise it for evil purposes. It is weak and unrealistic to expect that world peace can happen only when we all align our differing beliefs in the same direction. It is as unrealistic as a thornless rose. As dangerous as a cult.
We may find we all agree in heaven but I believe while here on earth we should graciously accept and tolerate those we sharply disagree with. To me, this is the highest form of love and the greatest evidence of true identity, understanding and maturity.
In my opinion, our eternal reward will be proportionate to how we love and tolerate those we sharply disagree with and not for how much we love and agree with a small circle of like-minded friends.
