Gandhi once said, "What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy?"

When I read this, I saw the serene faces of the Palestinian children killed in the Israeli bombings. Frankly, I don't care about Israeli politics and I don't care about Hamas ideology. I care about the innocents of Palestine, the women and children who are bearing the brunt of the violence wreaked upon Gaza.

There's a Malay proverb that goes: "Gajah yang bertarung, pelanduk yang mati." (When elephants fight, it is the mousedeer that die.) That's what happening in Gaza - and in every conflict in the world.

I have been and iPeace member for quite a few months now but have not contributed to the community at all. But with the new year, I am resolute in finding my inner peace because to me, that's what i-Peace stands for and I believe, peace begins within.
