Girls come enter in groups,plus size bridesmaid dresses check in, and are grabbed by a personal shopper (me.) We have 10 minutes to select 3-4 dresses from the thousands organized by color and size (0-36),plus size evening dresses and then the girls go upstairs to the changing room. The changing rooms are open,sexy plus size dresses ugh like Loehmann’s, where one needs to disrobe publicly. At 36,cheap formal dresses I’m not wild about this. I could only imagine the 16-year olds’ reactions.Once a dress is selected,cheap cocktail dresses girls head to the accessories room,plus size formal dresses pick out one accessory (clutch, earrings, necklace, or fake eyelashes) and head down to check out,black cocktail dresses where fake hair and spray tan is offered. A separate dressing room was available for pregnant teens,semi formal dresses or trans teens. We were instructed not to use words like “beautiful” and “thin” but instead say,celebrity wedding dresses “How do you feel? Does the dress feel awesome?” The mission of the Princess Project is about celebrating individual beauty and self-confidence. We need to get away from idealizing a body size and get into the one we have,celebrity wedding gowns right? The whole process is supposed to take 25 minutes.Then, like floodgates of excitement and angst, the doors were opened. The first girl I approached did not have time to chat with me. She knew her size, her color, her length. If I could just get out of her way, this would all go a lot smoother. Honestly, this girl had life far more figured out that I ever will, so I moved on to other shoppers. Many girls had their mom with them, or a handful of friends. Many were quite confident wandering around in their underwear, whole others tried dresses on over their jeans and t-shirts.
