Someone asked him if he could see himself surpassing Sampras and Federer. He is the best of all time regardless of whether or not he surpasses Federer IMO. Federer only won a single French Open title b/c Rafa was eliminated by Soderling on the 4th round. If you put them at any final, Nadal wins. He has the best record against Federer, Djoker and Murray.
