Penkyi, 21, was sentenced to death Five Tibetans have been sentenced to death for their alleged role in starting fatal fires in Lhasa during the protests which swept across Tibet in March 2008.
Lobsang Gyatsen, Loyak, Tenzin Phuntsog, Gangtsu and 21-year-old Penkyi (right) all face the death sentence. Free Tibet opposes the use of death penalties in all circumstances. Free Tibet is extremely concerned that the evidence against them is unsound, that legal safeguards were not met and that their convictions are therefore unsafe.
Please take urgent action!
Lobsang Gyaltsen and Loyak could be executed within weeks. The others have been given suspended death sentences, and are being held, at severe risk of torture.
Write to the authorities demanding that these planned executions be reversed.
