You asked what I knew about Palestinian issues. I will be sixty years old soon. and I first started trying to learn and speak on these issues when I was about 20. I made some very early young mistakes, When the UN resolution on Zionism was passed, which I found very logical and correct at that time I very much offended some elderly Jewish people. TO speak against Zionism, or more exactly, the policies of the State of Israel in the US will brand you immediatly as Anti-Semitic
I also belong to an International Women's group:WILPF/Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, which has bee working for Peace for 90 years. They put out excellent resources. and the US division a few years ago was focused on what we in the US can do to change US poilicy. I was astonished a few years ago to find that in a room full of US women activists, some of them 80 years old, and many who had traveled in the Mid East, this was the issue that we allhad the most difficulty publicly speaking about..
The situation is very complex, and there is much misinformation and blatent lies. I went back to school a few years ago and in my class a very well intentioned man brought in a piece by Alan Dirsowitch (?) which called the removal of Palestians a Myth. I brought in informaion packets with all of the UN resolutions, maps of the territories and how they have changed since '48. So, I am not ill informed about the basics. I am going to try to get more current about US actions. monies and policies. I think that is my responsibility : to monitor the actions of my own Government and try to change that..
I will probably just listen al ot in these forums, and learn. I try to follow Peace Now.. I have marched with Women in Black. I need to understand the very current disscussioo and issues.Thank you soo much for your help,work and friendship
