News: Wars and rumors of Wars around the world, Palestinians and Jews are being murdered, Poverty, Environment dying, Fla. woman likely jumped overboard (suicide), In Phila. 6 dead and 3 wounded (violence), Cheyenee, Wyo earthquakes 3 days straight, China border 3 tremors Dec. 27th and In May 80,000 people killed from earthquakes and more. It is imperative that we fast and ask for the relief of suffering around the world. What affects one affects all!!!!! If need advice on how to fast, please ask at anytime-we have a teacher to teach us.

Cassie, I'll keep you posted on the outcome of the next "melting pot" event (and I'll send you an invitation anyway)! Are you in any way involved in Mr. Obama's inauguration in Washington DC? I'll surely watch the CNN/NBC coverage on satellite TV: it's an event I don't want to miss, at least virtually.

In relation to your pictures, in February I'm organizing the 9th "melting pot" event as an opportunity for people of different occupations, nationalities, ages to meet while eating, drinking, dancing, playing games, discussing, etc., on the hypothesis that you learn something if you mix with people different from you. The last such happening - the eight of the series - was on September 27, with about 55 people attending. The next will be in the Carnival period, and attendees will be invited to masquerade themselves. A pity we are so far away: you could be a real winner!

Cassie, I agree with you on greed being a great obstacle to peace; yet, I think that people in power should not only focus on personally helping others, but also politically strive for systematic, structural mechanisms to reduce the gap between the well-to-do and the poorer people - which certainly are not limited to the 3rd world. I hope that Barak Obama will do something of the sort for the US, while I'm less hopeful in regard to other political figures around the world. Kudos for your support of Obama, and for your pictures: I particularly liked the one where you have a mask on. A smile, Sigfrido
ahead, people in power should focus on helping others, even if it means holding yourself back from obtaining power. People who have extra to give should give that and more.
