The Eightfold path seems to describe my way of thinking and my behavior. So I guess I was meant to arrive here and meet all these nice people.
I think Peace can start with ourselves and continue through our communication with others around us.
Peace is when you can help those less fortunate than you to get the education they need, even when they do not realize they need it. And also when you see the smile of a child and the wonder in the child's eyes when s/he discovers something new and is happy about it. Or when you see the child's smile when s/he feels love in his life.
All these bring peace to us, to those who can appreciate it. (smile)

Some years back I passed through Waterbury on a Greyhound bus on my way to Vermont.
Like you, here in New Zealand we are in the middle of an Election campaign. I am active in the Green Party, who have 6 members in out 120 seat Parliament. For about 12 years now we have had a new system of representation called "Mixed Member Proportional" which means that everyone gets two votes; one for a local member, and the other is a "paty" vote - these party votes are counted nation-wide and once over the 5% threshhold, gives seats in the proportion of the vote - its MUCH more democratic and representative - breaks out of the "two party" system that locks out smaller parties.
