My parents have got a cottage close to skye so I'm often up that way. So, how has your week been? Happy, interesting, stressful? You seem to be the type of person who ALWAYS enjoys his work.
Anything interesting planned for the weekend? Some magic? Perhaps a beanstalk?
I attach a pic of The Old Man Of Storr (Skye). Its a beautiful place. Peace, Morven

Hi It is really late and I have to get to bed! busy with kids, house, art, everything. Just too much.
We really have to know when to stop and smell the flowers, or in wintertime, think of flowers.
You too, relax and don0't get stressed
take care

A hour and a bit away for Glencoe. The snow has been good there this week so now it's just finding time to go!
I'm going to a Ceilidh at the Royal Concert Hall on Saturday to celebrate Robert Burns.
Where did you visit in Scotland?
I've been to the east coast of USA (about 10 years ago) I was a camp counsellor and pottery teacher in Pennsylvania and then travelled around. I fell in love wth New Orleans.

Still trying to get the hang of the iPeace nation. We all want "peace". But how to solve the real problems that keep getting in the way. Isn't un-peace a symptom of the real problems facing people, communities and nations? We have to find lasting solutions to the problems/causes in order to relieve the symptoms.

Hi Kelly ! Thanks for your interest !

I've given a quick look at SelfPort... Seems very promising... Is it possible to have access to the demos ?

How can the platform be of use for something like The Lepufology Project ?

Take care,
Chris

Sorry... I appear to be some kind of Jboss evangelist and I didn't even start to work with it (smile).
I guess you know better than I what you are doing.
and... no, I don't think it would be a good idea to start a whole project by my side... today everything is teamwork, I do know that.
Again... there are some things that I still don't get clear:
What exactly does the application?
Do you have a web where I can see the project?
Is it Open Source?
My best wishes, and sorry again... I should be more humble.
Much Love and Light to you,
Pere

Dear Kelly,

as for the software you are using, if you consider scaling globally (which would be my goal), please read:
http://laughingmeme.org/2007/04/12/twitter-ruby-and-scaling/
http://www.radicalbehavior.com/5-question-interview-with-twitter-developer-alex-payne/

I don't think Ruby is the best option. It is a good framework to get the work done in an agile way, but then you don't have the power it should give you.

In my last research about the topic, I came to the conclusion, that out of the many platforms out there to develop software with Java and Applications Servers (in order for the Application to be REALLY scalable), the best option was SEAM:

http://www.seamframework.org/
http://www.jboss.com/products/seam
http://www.jboss.org/projects/

It is also the ground for the new specification for "Web Beans" in the JCP, so I see a lot of future for the framework.

To watch a demo, with JBoss Portal (The container) and having inside a Seam application, please go to:
http://portal.demo.jboss.com/portal/default/default

There you can see the plugins, portlets, already made apps (like the forum), and the Seam "Booking App" example.

To download JBoss Developer Studio (with Seam integrated)
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/jbdevstudio/beta/jbdevstudio-2.0-Beta/

To watch what Seam can do:
http://www.redhat.com/developer_studio/guides/seam/html_single/

Look how easy and automated is to create a full CRUD application with 3 tiers well defined in less than 7-8 clicks.

For the tool for the modeling, I found: Taylor:
http://taylor.sourceforge.net/index.php/Overview

which is able to make MDA-MDD for JEE Enterprise frameworks (including Seam). This one I didn't try it yet.

I want to start developing with these tools in my father's office, but I don't know if it will be possible. There are already 2 books about Seam 2. Tell me if you are interested.

About your project: Yes, I would love to see what you are doing, and may be give you some insights, as time permits.

Much Love and Light,
Pere

Thanks for your friendship. Love your various interests - magic and treehouses made me chuckle! I never did have a much wanted treehouse and, now I live in a flat, I suppose I won't for a while longer. But, one day ... I will build myself one!

Hi Kelly,
Very nice blog you have !!!
Well, I work for my father in a Law Consulting Business. We are developing software for Lawyers, which also has bookkeeping, knowledge management, procedures automation, and some other features... You could see it as a "Service Oriented" ERP (because it doesn't have production neither warehouse).
Right now, because of the financial crisis, we have a Savings Bank (Caja - depending from Atonomical Government, not private), interested on it, because of the automation of the whole circle of information (with all bookkeeping kept). So we may have a good opportunity to get in to this market (Banking).
As for me, I am interested in Software Engineering, Model Driven Architecture (and Development: MDA-MDD), and team working.
The thing I like the most is to organize the tools, and to listen to the people in order to see what they are best at, and put them to work in a position they really like... To make them work with Enthusiasm to reach the Goal.
I have tested myself in 2 Software Engineering Subjects at University, and did quite well with UML, and planification (we used UP but "agilized"), but I haven't been able to test my abilities at work, since the application of my father is written in Access.
We are looking to port it to Seam (look at Jboss.org).
How would your platform improve world conditions? I am very interested.
Much Love,
Pere
