Charles Moore: Sailing the Great Pacific Garbage Patch

1. We have to let people know that recycling is not enough.

2. Stopping plastic production will reduce our need for oil. Plastic is not cheap anymore....

Thanks for sharing this!

I remember my father and I trapping out in the hinterland of Northern Ontario, Canada. I was about12 years old..that was in 1959. We were out paddling in our canoe down a river and my dad spotted some garbage on the banks of the river and he got out and took the garbage and buried it...and then he stood there for awhile with head bowed. I didn;t understand what he was doing then but now at my age I fully understand. His words were, "Where ever people go, they leave a mess...they never cleaan up." And now today I take my father's words a bit further..."The people come to the river and leave a mess...they come to the lake and leave a mess...they come to the forest and leave a mess...they went to the moon and left a mess...they even went to space and there they left a mess." Teachings from our fathers and grandfathers have implications for the future...find Chief Seattle's speech and read what he had to say about taking care of the earth. Peace to you all.

Campaign to awaken the conscience of the Brazilians to reduce the movement of one of the villains of environmental degradation. "When people take into account the environmental variable, practice sustainable consumption."
