In facebook, where we are raising money, the beneficiary is currently MERCY CORPS a 501(c)(3) nonprofit

In 25 years of experience on the ground, Mercy Corps has learned that communities recovering from war or social upheaval must be the agents of their own transformation for change to endure. It's only when communities set their own agendas, raise their own resources, and implement programs themselves, that their first successes result in the renewed hope, confidence and skills to continue development independently.

Description: Since 1979, Mercy Corps has provided $1 billion in assistance to people in 82 nations. Supported by headquarters offices in North America, Europe, and Asia, the agency's unified global programs employ 2,700 staff worldwide and reach nearly 10 million people in more than 40 countries.

Mercy Corps pursues its mission through emergency relief services that assist people afflicted by conflict or disaster; through sustainable community development that integrates agriculture, health, housing and infrastructure, economic development, education and environment, and local management; and through civil society initiatives that promote citizen participation, accountability, conflict management, and the rule of law.

A letter from Mercy Corp:

Thank you so much for thinking of Mercy Corps for your donations.

First of all, if your cause does choose to give the donations to Mercy Corps, I can assure you that all of that money will go to our programs in Gaza. We keep track of the individual causes that donate to Mercy Corps via Facebook to ensure that all funds go to the appropriate programs.

That being said, the majority of Mercy Corps' Gaza recovery programs target children. Our staff on the ground has found that the psychological toll on civilians, particularly children, has been enormous. Mercy Corps is in the process of transforming our psychosocial programs to address the specific needs of Gazan youth.

Currently, we are also working to help families with damaged homes to gain access to clean water and better shelter. We continue our work to distribute emergency relief items to 100,000 Gazans in need, but have shifted our focus to helping civilians rebuild their lives in the long term. In total, Mercy Corps has raised more than $2 million and secured $500K worth of material goods to support our efforts.

All of our Gazan recovery programs help children directly through the rebuilding of schools, food, shelter, and psychosocial programs -- or indirectly by helping parents rebuild homes and livelihoods.

Many thanks for thinking of us for your donations. Please let me know if I can answer any additional questions for you. Also, you can check out the latest Mercy Corps Gaza updates here: http://www.mercycorps.org/gazacrisis/

my poem 2009

By: Ahmad Qadra

Translated by: Khaloud Almuttalibi

My poem is

A dove

with one wing

It sprinkles the ashes of the heart

on torn off limbs

......

My poem is

An an amputated hand

With its finger holding on

To the engagement ring

....

My poem is

A bloody lily

groomed and brightened

While being thrown at the coffin

My poem is

Severed limbs

Divided by shells

On the childrens' seats and notebooks of

A school belonging to the UNRWA

My poem is

The eyes of three hundred million

The tears of three hundred million

And the fingers of three hundred million

Waiting to press the trigger

My poem is

A child trying to light

A match

A poem rolled in TNT

On the river Nile

...

My poem is

A swallow with small tearful eyes

Not from the cold

...

My poem is

A missile that has not yet launched

And red circles on the pillows of the quivering

...

My poem is a smashed skull

A plant that digs tunnels

On the stone

....

My poem is

Beautiful Palestine

Divided as the leaves of basil

Amongst the raining clouds

Can I help out by going into the Jerusalem office?? Pls let me know!
Luisella, besides writing you privately i wanted to thank you her for personally helping get funding through to Majed.

The personal touch that is added is a great and adds depth to the aid. The children hear about the feeling hearts and prayers we all have for the future.
Our hope should be fuel for theirs.

Sure, Denise, we need books in arab and in hebrew. Tomorrow I'll phone here in Italy to know if they have in arab. We can put a book with the other presents generally we send to children in Gaza and we can send to Israeli children living near the Gaza border perhapes with an origami rappresenting the bird of peace. In second time we can try to do the same in West Bank, if possible. Thanks, Denise! If we can have the books we'll ask help to i.Peace people living in Siderot (I have a very good friend, Merav Bondi).
Smiles Luisella

In my mind I have the children...and peace...
I propose: to envoy the beautiful books about Human Rights of UNICEF done in the same time to Gaza's children and to Siderot and children.
When a child grow with this ideas and value, becomes a non violent person.
I see in the future the best help we are doing for the Gaza's children, material for their dignity as future adults and as future persons able to connect the children grown with the same coscience in dignity and in ability in the relaxions in the other part, Israel.
Denise, I think you know these two books, for little child and for teen, publied from UNICEF.. What do you think, dear friends?

What can we do to open definitively borders of Gaza? Normal and peaceful living depend from take away siege! May we dream all toghether what we can do for this? A Tibetan friends wrote to me: "Appeal tto he Global Community,Please Use Your Liberty To Promotes Ours", please, this appel is our also for Gaza's people: we, free, we have to look for take away siege and become to rebuild peace between the two peoples. We all are One!
Maryse is wanderful Japanese people working origami and pillols for children! Hope pillols can pass border...maccheroni (Italian past) don't passed! Perhapes is a good idea to send to Raied Amro the composition of the pillols, so he can speak about them!
Smiles to all!
