When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I am a born activist
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
War, Poverty, Violence, Human Rights
So what is it?
There is too much fear in the world. Fear and resentment. Fear is a commodity for it can be manipulated and turned into cold cash for the people who benefit from the war machine and then the recycled product feeds the hungry machine again. Lets create a peace machine fueled with love and understanding so every can profit.
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
Economic disparities
More
I think money and greed on the part of some is a big issue.
Can we change the world?
Definitely
More about me
I'm an artist, a poet , a mother who got in on the tail end of the hippie movement and lived breifly in the south in the height of the civil rights movement.
All my life I have done social service, healing and creative work. An activist at heart, I have helped organize speak outs and vigils for peace, civl rights and justice. The community mental health agency I most recently worked for collapsed due to funding issues and my great love of ten years crossed over after a long illness with in the past year and a half.
Promise to respect others and refrain from spamming?
Yes

NO FANCY COMMENTS PLEASE

Ms Glover
No spicy greetings please. I have a painfully slow connection and all that fancy shimmery stuff as well as videos clog it up. I love hellos and simple photos though, those are welcome all the time. Sorry you'll have to keep it simple. I might have to delete the shimmery things.. don't take it personally. Thanks Susan.

Of the Mustang, Promises and Driftwood with Accessories

Posted on July 19, 2009 at 12:00pm 0 Comments

This evening I took a life weary friend to a jazz concert, when she pushed the mustang’s window button it fell into the door. My friend became even more discouraged, as she took it as a sign of even more bad luck. I figured it punctuates my desire not to sell it. Either that or I am only suppose to drive in it alone. Fun being my raison d’etre I prefer to think it means I can’t possibly sell the car. We did enjoy the concert which was really one of Jazzy standards and caught up over… Continue

In the bones

I joked apologetically about the paper work at the kitchen table of the transitional shelter. C sat across the table I had heard about her from another client and the outreach worker said she thinks that she is a black man. It was considered a delusion and I thought well that doesn’t seem that crazy to me. If you can be transgendered why not trans racial?

I don’t miss all the paper work of working for an agency, but I do miss the people and the advocacy. I miss the inside of "the not… Continue

The Pirate Debate

Posted on April 17, 2009 at 9:00pm 0 Comments

We have as a culture glorified Pirates for a long time. Even I created this little pirate doll last year.

Ayse would like us to join a pirate group:

She writes:

“Sources from Mogadisco report some truth. Somalian coast is no man's land. Since 1992 big fishing vessels from Greece, UK, Spain and Norway exploit this waters. Italian mafia did illegal toxic and nuclear waist disposal. All complaints were ignored by UN general assembly… Continue

Foster :"pop" Periwinkle prepares to go to Washington to meet with Obama

Posted on April 9, 2009 at 5:00pm 4 Comments

Pop Periwinkle and daughter Beauticia at February peace rally. Mr. Periwinkle or "pop" as the folks from Port Periwinkle love to call him is preparing to hop into a priority mail envelope and go to Washington D.C. with a "bring the troops home" sign and other messages from fellow Mainers. Pop needs a little tightening and a few signatures before he embarks on his trip. It is unclear if Pop will stay in the oval office or head back home after he has… Continue

Hi...
I'm all right. Benyis is a little sick at the moment, and we both miss Silas, who is with his dad in Australia, coming home the coming week though.

Jim and I separated in june, and thing were pretty smooth before he went travelling. Hope it'll be same story when he and Silas comes back.

Both kids have their base with me, in the old flat.

Hi Susan, How ARE you? I thank you for the invitation to your art network, although I am not artistic enough at the moment, have nothing to sell!

This morning I and Benyamin watched the black version of "wizard of Oz"- with Mike jackson and Diana Ross. It was actually quite good.

Then we went for a walk in the sun, stopped at the playgroung, we met heaps of people. Usually I met maybe one person I know.

Take care,
Erika.
