Gandi´s words you just quote "There is no way to peace, peace is the way" are for me a very important clue!
I think it´s so easy to ask for peace, to want peace, even to fight for peace (!!!),
and when I remember to make peace a way of life. A way of my life. A new way in my heart.
Then, peace becomes the way.

Romain Rolland and Mahatma Gandhi
Romain Rolland interest in India was awakened by Tagore, the first exponent of the philosophy and Indian culture in the first quarter of this century. Rolland had the highest admiration for Tagore's writings and personality. Getting in touch with him, he conceived a feeling of warmth to the staff of the Indian poet.
Gandhi was the dawn of a new hope for humanity. He was the symbol of fighting spirit against matter, the soul force against brute force. A born idealist and champion for the downtrodden and oppressed, Rolland wrote his biography of Mahatma Gandhi, when, for all practical purposes, the movement launched by him had failed to win their goal. The Mahatma was in prison then scapegoat, like Christ, to the failures of their own countrymen. For Rolland, the show was inspiring. His book is a passionate defense of Gandhi
Dark eyes, a small man, frail, with a thin face and rather large bulging eyes, his head covered with a white cap, his body covered with thick white cloth, barefoot. He lives on rice and fruits, and only drink water. He sleeps on the floor - sleeps very little, and works incessantly. Your body does not seem to tell everyone. There is nothing surprising about it - except its general expression of "infinite patience and infinite love
This is the man who stirred three hundred million people to revolt that shook the foundations of the British Empire, and introduced into human politics the strongest religious impulse of the last two thousand years
iPeace we walk together with Gandhi, and Gandhi met in a different manner, through testimonies of great poets and writers in the world, all told the same thing-Gandhi is the man who left a legacy of humanity's peace and nonviolence - His life was its greatest testimony

Romain Rolland y Mahatma Gandhi

met Gandhi in South Africa, instinctively thought of St. Francis of Assisi. There is an almost childlike simplicity about it His way is kind and courteous, even when dealing with opponents and he is honestly immaculate He is modest and unassuming to the point of sometimes seeming almost shy, hesitant to make a statement. However, you feel your indomitable spirit. He does not compromise and never tries to hide an error. Not afraid to admit it was wrong. Joseph John Doke

Ipeace these facts of history, not exist in any site, are the book Joseph John Doke,Baptist Minister, artist and author, was born in Devon, England Apart from writing the first biography of Gandhi
Joseph Doke arrived in Grahamstown in 1903 and was president of the Baptist Union of South Africa from 1906 to 1907.He had a well-developed social conscience. Always championing the rights of the weak and exploited, he became involved in the struggle of the Indian population against discriminating legislation in South Africa. Gandhi said of him that "No Englishman had such a keen grasp of the subject as he, by patient study, had acquired"
Gandhi byJoseph John Doke
"Few can resist the charm of his personality. His bitterest enemies become courteous when confronted with his beautiful courtesy"
"Every departure from truth, no matter how trifling, is intolerable to him"
"He is not a passionate orator; his manner is calm and serene and he appeals particularly to the intelligence. But his serenity places the subject he discusses in the clearest light. The inflexions of his voice are not varied, but they are intensely sincere. He never makes any gestures with his arms, in fact he rarely even moves a finger. But his luminous words, expressed in terse, concise sentences, carry conviction. He never abandons a subject before he feels that he had made it perfectly clear.
Young India, March 2, 1922. The dates cited in the notes of this volume refer to the date of publication of Gandhi's articles in Young India.
A, privative, himsa, to do evil. Hence, ahimsa, principle of not harming any form of life, non-violence. It is one of Hinduism's most ancient precepts, proclaimed by Mahavira, the founder of Jainism, by Buddha, as well as by the disciples of Vishnu.
He attended the elementary school of Porbandar till the age of seven and then the public school of Rajkot till ten. After that he went to the high school of Katyavar until, at the age of seventeen, he entered the University of Ahmedabad.
He described his childhood in a speech at the Pariah Conference, April 13, 1921.
Long afterward he told Joseph Doke of the anguish he had suffered after eating meat. He was unable to sleep; he felt like a murderer.
He is not in favour of child marriages, however, and made a campaign against them, on the ground that they weaken the race. In exceptional cases, however, he says that such unions, sealed before the individual's character is moulded, may build up between husband and wife an exceptionally beautiful relationship of sympathy and harmony. Gandhi's own wife is an admirable example of this. Mrs. Gandhi shared all her husband's trials and adversities with unfailing steadfastness of purpose and indomitable courage.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
This is the man who has stirred three hundred million people to revolt, who has shaken the foundations of the British Empire, and who has introduced into human politics the strongest religious impetus of the last two thousand years.

Gandhi byJoseph John Doke
