Durban is a piece of India in South Africa
Bust of Mahatma Gandhi, located in the Phoenix Settlement, where he lived in Inanda, a suburb of Durban, South Africa
Durban came to the house one of the leading figures of India: Mahatma Gandhi. During long and fruitful 21 years, the city had the opportunity to host the political and spiritual leader, who came to influence important black figures like Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King. It was in the suburb of Inanda, 27 km from Durban, Gandhi developed his philosophy of passive resistance against injustice in the world, especially those used to separate the South Africans according to their skin color and from which the young Indian - who came to town to work as a lawyer - was also a victim.

It was a nondescript Gandhi spent much of his stay in South Africa and construction away from downtown followed the same principles that gave rise to other ghettos, like the famous Soweto in Johannesburg, during the years of racial segregation: black and brown people should live apart from white society, at that time, lived in the more noble.
Love Gandhi!

Love Gandhi!
