Dissillusionment is fast growing among the internally displaced persons in the northwestern parts of Pakistan as the governments, aid agencies and donors have apparently fell short of their mandate to come to the rescue of the people numbering over three million and find proper shelters and food and medicines for them. Although huge relief assistance is coming to the IDPs, but majority of them have expressed dissatisfaction with the distribution mechanism adopted in the IDPs camps. According to statistices, around 80 per cent of the over three million people are living outside camps. Complaints from the IDPs suggest that relief agencies have even failed to reach out to those people who are living in the camps. A great deal is yet to be done to bring transparency to the whole process of registration of IDPs and relief distribution among them and restore their confidence on the working of the relief agencies.
