Music is sensation – a universal language of expressing inner feelings, a food of soul and love. It leaves a refreshing and lasting impression on our minds and bodies. As the World Music Day is being marked across the globe today (June 21), all peoples should dedicate this day to promote peace and improve understanding among various cultures.
Little wonder that music expresses emotions that are too strong to be put into words, it also improve our physical and mental capabilities. Nearly every organ of the body responds to music in a particular way which can only be imagined.
Traditional music of any culture is created and played by indigenous musicians who are closely guided by indigenous music of the regions of their origin.
Pashto music has its own special place in the world of music. Pashto folk songs are full with hope, love and light, and lift the heart and mind to unknown realms of feelings and emotions.
As Shakespeare said “if music be the food of love, play on…”. Let’s join hands, hearts, minds and souls, and dedicate this World Music Day for the voiceless, music-less and shelter-less people uprooted from the native regions or thrown out of their homes due to simmering conflicts, and bring some hope to them through the universal language of music.
