An ideal for which I am prepared to die

Mandela made this statement from the dock at the opening of his trial on charges of sabotage, Supreme court of South Africa, Pretoria, April 20 1964

"I am the first accused. I hold a bachelor's degree in arts and practised as an attorney in Johannesburg for a number of years in partnership with Oliver Tambo. I am a convicted prisoner serving five years for leaving the country without a permit and for inciting people to go on strike at the end of May 1961.

At the outset, I want to say that..."

Anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela joined top leaders, Nobel laureates and elder statesmen on Monday in calling on the world to reinvent Indian freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi's non-violent approach to solving conflicts. Mandela, who spent 27 years in prison for fighting white rule before leading South Africa to multiracial democracy as the country's first black president in 1994, said Gandhi's non-violent approach, which won India freedom from British colonial rule 60 years ago, is an inspiration.
"His philosophy contributed in no small measure to bringing about a peaceful transformation in South Africa and in healing the destructive human divisions that had been spawned by the abhorrent practice of apartheid," said Mandela.
The 88-year-old statesman was addressing a conference, through a satellite link from South Africa, to mark the centenary of Gandhi's "satyagraha" or non-violent movement, which began in Johannesburg on September 11 1906, where Gandhi was practising law. Gandhi lived in South Africa from 1893 to 1914, where he was an active and high-profile political activist.
Referring to him as "the sacred warrior", Mandela said the Mahatma combined ethics and morality with a steely resolve that refused to compromise with the oppressor, the British Empire. "In a world driven by violence and strife, Gandhi's message of peace and non-violence holds the key to human survival in the 21st century, said Mandela.
"He rightly believed in the efficacy of pitting the sole force of the satyagraha against the brute force of the oppressor and in effect converting the oppressor to the right and moral point."
Gandhi is revered by many around the world for his tolerance and peaceful approach that led millions of Indians to refuse to comply with colonial law, eventually forcing Britain to leave India after about 300 years of occupation.

Free from the fear (Nelsom Mandela)
Our deepest fear is not to be inadequados.Nosso deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond medida.É our light, not our darkness, that most assusta.Nós we ask: who am I to be brilliant, attractive, talented , fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of Espírito.Você, claiming to be small does not serve the mundo.Não is no light in the act to shrink so that others feel insecure around you . We were born to manifest the glory of the Spirit that is within us. And as we let our light shine, we give others permission to do the same. As we release our fear, our presence liberates others.

What is the color of love?Slide 2: Some black, some white. There are false, some French. There are poor, some rich. There are violent and peaceful. There are yellow and brown. Some bad, some good. Some float, others wrecked. Some get away, others linger. Some green, some red. There are assets, there is weak. Some say yes, others not and others are like a yoyo. Slide 3: Beyond classes and races, the same spirit binds us. Indians, Europeans or Africans, are equal, we are brothers.
Slide 4: In recent years we have seen or read about the horrors that can result from an escalation of animosity between people of different race, creed or religion. Today, more than 75 percent of those killed or wounded in wars are not combatants. Ethnic clashes in the Darfur region of Sudan, political violence in Kenya and Sri Lanka, the social conflicts in Colombia and other Latin American countries, the continuing bloodshed in the Middle East, the incessant killings that occur in Afghanistan and Iraq and the countless racial conflicts that occur in many other parts of the world testify that the human species is going dark.
Slide 5: Unfortunately, even if an organization had the authority to promulgate such a decree, would result. Kindness, understanding and love should come from the heart, can not be imposed by force of law. Nobody can put a stop to this? Could a supranational authority to decree that people of all countries, races and faiths to respect and accept all others, whatever their differences?
Slide 6: OK, and we would respect a person of a different extraction you when you were taught since childhood that your race, religion or culture are best is no small task. Even more difficult is to suddenly accept a person of one race that you know for years or perhaps centuries has exploited your town or has caused suffering, humiliation and harassment.
Slide 7: When someone has been plundered, lost your home or land, or otherwise has suffered in the flesh violence or cruelty on the part of another ethnic group, there is no edict able to change the attitudes of victims of the night in the morning. Although really want to reconcile with its oppressors, it is very difficult to get rid of habits of long standing, and no will power rail-to-be able to overcome resentment or hatred deeply rooted.
Slide 8: How do you do, then, to overcome prejudice, fear and mistrust? with love. The answer can be summed up in one simple word:
Slide 9: "The hatred aroused quarrels, but love covers all offenses" (Proverbs 10:12). When one party harbors hatred for the other, disagreements and conflicts are generated. True love, however, leads us to see beyond the faults of others, and motivates us to accept and forgive a person even though we have harmed.
Slide 10: Ignore the flaws and mistakes of others seems a very noble aspiration, but who is able to instantly get rid of resentment, hatred, fear or other negative feeling against a person who harbors or even against an entire people? For most of us lack the resolve and fortitude to do so.
Slide 11: What's encouraging is that despite our limited resources, we can honestly love, understand and accept others, whatever their past or background. Key to this is the source of all love: God. The Bible teaches that "God is love." It is the Spirit of love who created the universe and gave us life.
Slide 12: All work carried out was based on Jesus' love. By addressing the physical and spiritual needs of people, the human suffering experienced and had great compassion for us. It was truly one of us. He taught us all that we can meet God in obedience to one great commandment: 'Love your neighbor as yourself "(Galatians 5:14). For captáramos Its essence was lowered to our level, sent to earth His Son Jesus Christ, who took human form.
Slide 13: The Bible says of Jesus: "He is our peace, which of the two [races] made a toppling intermediate separation wall" (Ephesians 2:14). The love of God is the only force that can forge genuine peace, unity and mutual respect. "The man looks at what is before their eyes, but the Lord looks at the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7). Although we do not leave natural to let the Spirit of God in us more imbued with the divine nature (2 Corinthians 3:18, Ephesians 4:23-24, Colossians 3:10). Only then we can see the people from His perspective and ignore the color of the skin to look more into your heart and spirit.
Slide 14: Even though the fear, prejudice and hatred take root years, God's love can dispel. Once we realize that He loves us and has forgiven us, it is much easier to love and forgive others. We emptied of "all bitterness, rage, anger, clamor and evil and all evil", and "each other benign, merciful, forgiving one another, as God also forgave us" (Ephesians 4:31-32 ).
Slide 15: Much more would be nice if the world is not distinguishable from one color to another and we did not have ethnic, collects if you simply look at a person of another race outside the love ... ... the color of love.
