First I should say that this is my own thoughts and does not so represent TWDP. Today there is no real peace in the world, only a balance in forces. A kind of more or less permanent cease fire. Humankind will never have peace unless they realize that we are all related and connected with eachother, Mother Earth, all that lives on her. Our neighbours wellbeing is as important as our own. And maybe just that could be the first step against real peace, caring about our neighbour. After all big changes are usually made out of many small steps. If we all do something to care for our nearest neighbours, lets say 2 or 3, who knows where that may lead? Atleast it would lead to a more caring neighbourhood. And if they are open to it you could tell them that this is a part of your peaceproject. It can happen that they want to join, do something on their own, or together in a group. Caring about our relatives also gives us a good feeling, it doesnt have to be something big. Helping out with some gardenwork, make a cake or just ask if everything is ok. It is up to you

We are all One! not separated! If we listen to, drums tell our unity across all our world! vibrating in all!

Got some wonderfull ideas back from some of the participants/members and I would like to share them with you here:

I agree, and here's some concrete thoughts about things that could be done . . .

Several people in our neighborhood have started a community garden - we created separate areas for each family to care for, decided on and bought all the plants together, and then divided them between the participants so each area gets planted, weeded and watered. We meet every couple of weeks to check progress, and we'll all have wonderful food to eat all year, and probably a couple of community potlucks.

We also have ceremonial space on my land, in this case, a Sweat Lodge. I put out an email every two weeks and invite our regulars and tell them to invite others. I share the teachings at every Lodge, and one of the things we always talk about is community, protocols for peaceful coexistence, and celebration. There are all kinds of ceremonies that can happen in a neighborhood - full moon ceremonies, new moon, giveaways, "potlatch" (potluck feasts, sharing food, music, fun, and holding intention for something the neighborhood wants to have happen).

Our neighborhood also became very active with the Obama campaign, and we've taken that farther. We're sharing information and ideas re national healthcare, education, greening our economy and curbing global warming, crime and drug prevention for our kids, etc. It's serious business, but we have a lot of fun and joke around, too, and we're getting to know each other and understand each other's views and needs in a much more thorough way, which makes it easier for us to find compromises that work.

Another thing that can be very helpful in community building is having an NVC (Non-Violent Communication, the language of compassion) workshop in your area. http://cnvc.org/ This is a method of listening to each other's needs and responding with your own with the understanding that no one is to blame if our needs cannot be met, which helps people become willing to find ways to meet everyone's needs. NVC has been used successfully in prison situations, in the Bosnia/Croatian negotiations, and in many other worldwide stressful, tirgger incidents. I highly recommend it to EVERYONE, as a way of learning peaceful communications and negotiation.

Celebration is the other way we bring people together. Ceremonies are also celebrations - the World Drum, etc. . . .but even a simple dinner together is a celebration. The Hopi say "Techqua Ikachi" - blend with the land adn celebrate life! If we could all just remember that, we'd HAVE peace in the world!!

Loads of Love and Blessings ~

It is indeed up to each and every one of us. Stand upon the earth and feel your connection with every plant, every animal, every person; the Earth Mother connects us all. And beyond are the stars . . . and the Light that is Creation connects us beyond and beyond. The message that the World Drum sang to my heart said "Do not pray for unity; you are already united. Pray for Awareness." When we awaken we will have peace. And every kindness, every awareness that we express of that essential connection creates another pearl of awareness. Thank you for your message. It is indeed up to us.

From Linda VanBibber

Hi

A group of us have joined together here in West Sussex to get to know
our Mother better by going out in nature and simply spending time
listening to what SHE wants. We plan to commune in woods, on beaches,
around sacred sites/standing stones and to share music, creativity,
meditation, sacred ceremony and our love for all there is. We meet
together every full moon with whoever wishes to join us and we
collectively use fire ceremony to transform and give back to the earth
all that no longer serves us, and to welcome in that which will
transform our lives and the lives of those around us. We also send
blessings to the Mother in ritual and ceremony.

Naturally, we also do what we can in our local communities and with
our friends and family - that goes without saying.

I have some wonderful friends who have created a project to bring
about world peace - see www.parallelcommunity.com - not sure if I
already sent you their details, but I am sure you will find they are
working along the same lines.

Bless you for all you are doing.

with love Pauline Cory-Black
