I have written a blog on my page about Spike, he was a terrible thief too. Our pets give us so much. Terriers are great dogs, full of character. We have had two Jack Russell girls, they have always been the bossiest dog in the household My first dog of my own after leaving home was a Weimaraner and I have had one since the early 70's when they were very rare in the UK, unfortunately they are quite common now and lots of people have bought them for their beauty but did not realise that they have such great intelligence and they run circles around some of their owners and end up in rescue centers. I used to be quite involved in Weimaraner rescue and it was always the owner who had the problem, not the dog.
I live in a village where the lanes are very narrow, some are only just wide enough for one middle size car. My house is down a Bridle Path, a stoney track just wide enough for a car, if anything else tries to go down it it has to push it's way past all the trees and bushes. Our village Church is in the Domes Day book, it think it was built in the 1000's, so it is very very old.
I apologise to Muffin for calling him a her, I hope he forgives me.
Ha! Those are great names! Yes I remember some news stories about Cardinal Synn a while back. A friend in Tennessee has a German Shepherd named Spike who dotes on a little Jack Russell named TrickC, even though she torments him endlessly. Muffin was such a cute little character. He used to tug on my pant leg gently for pats on his head, and he would actually dance when he was happy. He'd goose step with his forepaws and tilt his head to and fro in time to it, and yes, his Mum is great.
Augie is a bit of a thief, and he reminds me of the Artful Dodger in Oliver Twist, so if he has a son that I plan to keep as a companion for him, I'll name the puppy 'Dodger.'
I lived a while without any pet, and it was such a gray period in my life.
Oh Southern England is the best! I loved the country lanes, and was always amazed that such narrow roads were two way streets!
I recall watching that film years ago on the TV. Augie has a splendid name. My old dog was called Khamsynn Cardinal Synn, apparently there is a Cardinal from Asia called Cardinal Synn. A lot of Spikes puppies were given linking names like Tart and Original Synn, there were some very good ones but I don't remember them.
Our pets are very important to use too, I could not imagine life without a pet in it.
Muffin was a very pretty girl, I expect her Mum was too.
We live in the next Country to Sussex, my daughter used to go to school there.
Augie is the light of my life. His full name is Augustus Muffin McCrae. Augustus McCrae was the great Texas Ranger played by Robert Duvall in Larry McMurtry's book, Lonesome Dove.
Muffin was the first Cairn terrier I ever met. He belonged to my ex-girlfriend, and Muffin and I bonded instantly. This was in East Sussex in your country, by the way. England is beautiful!
