When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?: I'm just a peaceful person

What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?: Poverty, Our Planet, Violence, Human Rights

More: When we, as persons and in our self-identified groups are afraid, we participate in trying to control the other person/group. The process leads to social oppression and the abuse of human rights. When we label our group as being the "right one", whether religion, nation, etnic group, community or ability/orientation, we risk living out of fear rather than self-acceptance, non-anxious presence, and inner security. That is the great obstacle in the pathways to peace.

More about me: I am a clergy person in the Presbyterian Church(USA) who, out a history of teaching, medical and public health practice, international medical training and practice, and years as as a hospital worker and sheetmetal worker, have come together with my wife Sherrie, to peaceseeking and peacemaking as my center of work and home life.

A key concept is the growing of a non-anxious presence in me, so that in being with others, I can really listen. As fear subsides, real relationship grows.
