It is not awakening as a nice thing to do, as another trinket to add to the knapsack of experiences. It is awakening as essential. It is not awakening as some personal pleasure, some personal achievement. It is the recognition that the patterns of hatred and blame that go on in our minds are reflected in the world, and that these patterns can stop. We can't wait for anyone else to stop. But each of us can take this opportunity right now to stop the cycle- the cycle that is projected inward and the cycle that is projected outward. We can stop the war and recognize peace.
