I am a registered nurse and will not be able to write every day but I do want to share a few thoughts on why I have joined this group today. As a child, living on an Air Force Base, I did not understand the efforts for war and hatred of others. These feelings have not changed through my five decades of life. I was fortunate to find my way to Tibetan Buddhism and have been given tools to enable me to strive to promote peace wherever I may find myself. This forum gives me the opportunity to expand my daily prayers for peace by sending out words of peace and hopefully finding people to communicate with. Only the goal of peace could motivate me to join an internet group or to write an occasional blog.

Today, I want to address the need for peace to begin at home. Several years ago I recognized that if I wanted to promote world peace, I had to promote peace in my own home. I saw that if I controlled my anger and hurt feelings, my husband and I had fewer and fewer arguments. Now, we in the USA face the great challenge before us of bringing peace to this country in the midst of this election. The bigoted rhetoric and lies of the Republican party are dangerous. But those of us who disagree with them cannot stoop to their level. We must strive to communicate with those who are willing to listen that we must unite and strive to solve these never ending problems of the economy, health, and disparities.
