There once was a farmer.
He found some seeds for corn that produced 5 times the corn per acre than anyone else had.
But there were only so many available and they cost a lot of money, but he sold things and bought these seeds.
He waited until spring, and planted his crops, and when the corn came up and grew it grew strong and had many large ears per corn plant.
He was going to have 5 times the amount to sell for the same amount of work!
His neighbors also grew corn and marveled at his yields and asked the man if he would sell him some of his seeds so they too could have such prosperity.
The man thought about this, and though that if he shared these seeds with others, then they too would be equally prosperous, and his own wealth would mean little. So he kept his seeds to himself!
And the next year borrowed money for a better tracker and harrow and other machinery to enjoy his new wealth and plant more land with this new corn.
But this year his yields were only 3 times what was normal... He could not understand this, but it was enough to make the payments on his new machines and thought that next year things would go better.
The next year he planted, and his crops grew and it was even better weather for growing corn, but his yields were only 2 times as good as the last years and he started to get behind on paying for the machines he had bought.
So the next year he planted again, and this time the crop was only slightly better than it was before he got this new seed, and he could not understand why... and he had to sell the machines (used) that he had in order to pay the payments on them, or loose his land.
The next year he borrowed someone else tractor, hoping still for better yields but they did not happen, and he could not even make enough to pay for all his own needs, and he ended up having to sell his farm....
He could not understand, things were going so good!!! What had happened!!!!????
Then it dawned on him.... his neighbors!
It was their corn cross pollinating with his, that brought it back to normal yields....
Had he sold them the seed when they asked, then all would have prospered!!
Instead, in seeking to be selfish with his wealth, he lost all he had.
If our oil companies, our power companies, our governments or even just some bad people, take and take and take, then what will there be left for the people to give????
If we take care of our selves instead of giving our money to others to take care of us, and the many, give there money to the few, then this is spread more equally among all the people. And if the people are more prosperous, so too is everyone, including those who sought to keep taking from us, because instead of forcing these things from us, we have then more to GIVE.
If a ruler of a country took from its people.
If this ruler was the ruler of poor people how rich could this ruler then be?
If a ruler of a country took only when money was spent to buy things,
then the more wealthy the people are, the more money the ruler than has.
If I dont spend my money on power, or food or transportation or heating and cooling,
I then have more money to buy THINGS with.
And I seek to buy these things not from large companies, but from those who have little.
The more prosperous those who are poor become, the more able then they are to buy what I make.
I don't seek to spend what I have buying things from those who already have much.
but to encourage the prosperity of those who do not.
So I try not to by from large companies,
I try to buy things my neighbor makes, even if it costs me more,
my return is my neighbor becoming more wealthy.
