The GI ranks foods based on how quickly you can raise blood glucose levels, while the glycemic load catalogs them according to the actual content of carbohydrates. Just because you eat two foods that provide 50 grams of carbohydrates does not mean you go to use the same amount of carbohydrates each.
To calculate the glycemic load of a portion of food you must divide the ERECTEEN of that food by 100 and multiply the result by the usable carbohydrate content (in grams) of that portion.
