Let me tell you a story. I went to visit my parents in Beer Sheva today. It takes about an hour to drive there. I got there at 12:45 pm. Said hi, kissed my parents and went to look what's cooking in my mom's pots.
Suddenly a siren started wailing. This has only one meaning for it these days for a million people in Israel. A missile is doing its way from Gaza in your direction. And you have to act fast.
My elderly parents already know the drill. They somehow dragged themselves to what we call a 'protected space', an inside room with heavy walls. 30 seconds passed. Then the dog started barking. We forgot him outside in the garden. My mom started for the door. "What are you doing?" I asked. "Going to bring Coco" she said. "Forget it" I said.
We listened together, trying to hear the fall. We couldn't. They said in the radio later that the missile fell in an open space.
Then we had 3 hours of quiet. There's a daily ceasefire between 1 and 4 pm when humanitarian aid is being delivered to Gaza.
This was my experience today, and I hold no grudge. I am not even trying to compare it to the living hell experienced by innocent civilians in Gaza. I can't even start to imagine what does it feel over there. And I don't wish any of you to ever know.
This is all so futile. My heart cries for all the people in Gaza strip that are suffering more than 2 weeks now death injury, pain, loss of relatives, friends and property and trauma that will never heal.
Today, I was convinced more than ever that we have no other way, but the peace way. We have to somehow reach for one another, heal each other wounds, gain a little trust and start a dialogue.
Peace only begets more Peace, and war only begets more war. We cannot "fight" for Peace, and We cannot "protest" war, we must instead become that which we wish to experience in the world. If we perceive anything in the world that we interpret as "wrong" we cannot "fix" it, we must instead shift our consciousness and heal our selves and thereby heal the World. For within us lay both the seeds for Peace and for violence, it is the one that we water and nurture that will grow.
Thank you, my brother David, the LIGHT of Peace will always shine when we all join hands and make it work. I can understand how you felt when you were with your parents when the siren started. I have never been in or near a war.
I liked this song, it is so touching. I still respect David Barenboim and Edward Said for the great work they did in creating the orchestra with young palestians, Israelis, Egyptians, Lebaneses, Syrians, Jordanians, and so forth. In quoting Shakespeare: If music is the food of LOVE, play on. To throw mud to each other will not bring the Palistinians and the Israelis together. Stop this horrible war and bring Peace and Love instead of sufferings to them.
I will pray for the people in Gaza and anyone else who is suffering a similar fate. I will pray that they will personally know peace. Let us send positive energy to the politicians, heads of state and anyone else who can help rpomote peace in their part of the world. May the choose peace as the way to peace.
David it must give us hope that so many people are uniting through iPeace and other groups with the aim of world peace. Pilgrim of Peace! Clicia Pavan
Vai pilgrim to the taste of the wind
bringing hope
Vai as bird wandering pilgrim
that return to nest
Vai the paths of Destiny
hoping to find an oasis of peace
Vai pilgrim breaking the wars, fear
Kill your thirst for peace
Vai ripping the veil, ripping heavens
Vai as a sower planting a flower
In the desert of men, without soul, without love
Watering your flower with tears of hope
Your way to peace is to love your Destination
(I dedicate to my friend David Califa and all who fight for peace)
---------
Peregrino da Paz!
Clicia Pavan
Vai peregrino ao sabor do vento
levando esperança
Vai peregrino como ave errante
que voltar ao ninho
Vai pelos caminhos do Destino
esperando um oásis de paz encontrar
Vai peregrino rompendo as guerras,o medo
Thank you David! I continue to think of you all, my brothers and sisters, and pray for your and our all peace! Silvia
