Yes, patina is the surface coloring. Usually it refers to oxidized surfaces, like copper turning green and the like. The symbols were taken from angelic scripts that the ancient Hebrews used to write on occasion. That mask was so serious looking that I had to lighten it up so I wrote 'eat pie' in the script.
I went to design school in college, but then found I wanted to work in fine art all along. Took some private jewelry making lessons from a woman in the next town over from me. The graphic design classes were really helpful.
"But don't we have different levels...and different moods? Some days I make Deeep inprints (giant footprints), or feel them or whatever. Other times it's like Fairy Floss. Or?".........ErikaI think We all have that problem, at one time or the other."Such is Life" Namaste "Happy Trails" Lovin You. Peace, Al
The Michael pendants were pretty affordable. If I find any, I can send you one. All my jewelry went into storage when I moved to this house, and I'll have to dig them out some time. Right now, I don't know which box they're in...(sigh.)

I really like the way the snake bones got that patina to them....
I think, in a past life....you must have been a shaman. :-)
This was a mask pendant with turquoise and onyx. Both are made of fine silver and gold foil with patina. Haven't done jewelry in a while, though...
Thank you for our friendship. Consider visiting Kenya in the near future.
