Dear Martha, friday evening i attended one of Christina's performances in Belgium. She moved the audience in the theatre that was sold out so much that she received a standing ovation. Yesterday evening i attended a performance of another fado singer: Mafalda Arnauth. She is a fado singer with a spiritual mission. She brought so much love into the heart of her audience. Between the songs she spoke of the importance of positivety, courage and strength. I've been able to speak to her afterwards. Let me also introduce you to her music. The instrument is not a lute but a Portugese guitar.

Of course i also would like Obama to end those senseless wars, to get involved with the Chinese Human Rights abuses and am dissapointed that he wouldn't meet with His Holyness the Dalai Lama. Be well, Willem

Thanks Martha for your comment. Christina is from Portugal and fado (Portuguese:destiny, fate) is a music genre which can be traced from the 1820s in Portugal, but probably with much earlier origins. In popular belief, fado is a form of music characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics, often about the sea or the life of the poor. The music is usually linked to the Portuguese word saudade (that has no match in English but it could be understood as nostalgia felt while missing something or someone important), a word describing a sentiment.
