When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I feel the pain in the world
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
So what is it?
man's inhumanity to man--and the rest of creation
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
people are so wrapped up in themselves, their own "world", that they don't see beyond -either by choice or out of ignorance
Can we change the world?
More about me
change starts with us...be the change you want to see...slowly and gently we begin to "jolt" the world..."love one another"...until then, God's peace be with you all...

Love Is All We Need

Posted on February 10, 2010 at 8:54pm 0 Comments

How many times have we heard this expression? Songs have been written -"Love, Love, Love,....love is all we need"..."All we need is love"...If we all had this "love" we could have peace. What is love? What is "it" that we "need"?

With Valentine's Day approaching here in the US, I have been thinking and meditating on the subject of love. "I love you." "Do you love me?"

Looking for an answer for this "love" led me to my "source" -Scriptures. [Bible]..."Love one… Continue

Looking for Peace

What is PEACE? Is it something that exists and we have to find it? Is it something that is within us and we have to tap it? If so, how do we then relate to the peace that lies within others? What is a "peacemaker". These peacemakers, people who work for word peace, are awarded annually with a Nobel Peace Prize. Yet, even they are many times not considered "perfect" when it comes to Peace and how others see them as people in a real world. Ghandi once said: "There is no way to Peace, Peace is the… Continue

My meditation today brought some thought that I want to share. As a follower of "The Way", I tend to greet people with "the Peace of God be with you"..."God's Peace be with you"...and I was wondering just what was meant by that. So, I came across the following:
Today's study brought me to this website and interesting insight as to "Peace"...what is meant by "peace" in this context:

One of the defining attributes of Christ is that He is "The Prince of Peace" (Is.9:6). Before He left the earth and ascended up to His Father's right hand, He said,
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John14:27).
The Greek word translated "peace" in this verse is "eirene", and it essentially means "a cessation of againstness." In other words, when two opposing forces cease their struggle against each other, peace ensues. As a picture word, it's like a boxer laying his hands to his sides in resignation. There's no more fight. The combatants have laid down their glove, hence, peace.

I should add...they lay down their gloves because of Christ ["it" is finished]...we wish each other the "Peace of Christ"..."Peace be with you"...
I lay down my gloves and you yours...
we are equal...
...and then I wonder...it is easy to "lay down our gloves" when we are "likeminded". However, when we are on "opposing" sides, and sometimes we are on that "right" side, is it something easy to do? Lay down our gloves and forget the "fight"...Is this kind of "Peace" possible? Yes...if we are "equal"...it is peace...however...until then, how will we achieve peace on earth? How? Can Peace on Earth be more than a "state of mind"...
Ghandi was right when he said, "There is no way to Peace, Peace is the way." Any thoughts?
